Steven and Heather Ross: The Little Red Hen Makes A Pizza

It's official Xander has completed the first grade. His final day of school was Friday. I know this seems late to you "traditional" school year people, Xander has been attending school at Herriman elementary and they are on a year round program. I've actually enjoyed this schedule, it seems like it gives us more flexibility for the kids to spend time in Idaho and do family things. He would attend school for 9-12 weeks and then be off for three. Xander will be transferring back to Saratoga Shores for 2nd grade though because of the whole Steven losing his job situation so I'll have to get used to traditional again.

For the end of the year Xander's class put on three plays. Xander was cast in the little red hen makes a pizza as the duck. He was so excited and talked about it for days. He actually had quite a few lines, Steven really enjoyed practicing with him. On the way to school that morning he said "Mom I really love being on stage." Is he his father's son or what? There is nothing Xander loves more than attention.

Before the play the principal handed out the "Hawk" awards. Herriman has this thing where if you complete a bunch of requirements you receive a medal at the end of the year. We are under achievers so of course all Xander received was a participation certificate. He's in the first grade for crying out loud there will be plenty of time for stuff like that.
