Steven's mom and dad drove up from California a couple of weeks ago for Luke's ordination. Ken, Steven's dad, drove back shortly after, but Jeanie, his mom, is staying for a couple of weeks to get ready for the epic Ross reunion this Saturday, stay tuned for that. On Saturday Jeanie decided to take us to the Scottish Festival at Thanksgiving point. The Ross' as a rule are very interested in their Scottish heritage. Steven has been wanting to go to this festival for a very long time, but every year when it rolls around it doesn't quite seem to happen.
The gate that we entered in was right by the drum line practice
This is the flag outside of the Ross Clan tent
This is the base for the Ross flag. I'm irritated that my shadow is in the picture
Inside the Ross tent
The lady in the Ross Clan tent gave Paizley this pin that says Ross and has the family crest
The next three pictures show some of the games and competitions that were going on in the various fields around the festival. I can't remember what they are called, hammer throw or something like that?
These are the Irish clog dancers. The kids really enjoyed watching this. I was scared the stage was going to collapse with all of them jumping up and down. I think it was just made of plywood and a steel frame.
We totally saw Santa in a kilt! Xander was very excited to get his picture taken with him.
Paizley wasn't so sure.
Steven thinks this should be our Christmas card this year.
They had free face painting for the kids. Paizley was very serious the whole time her face was being done. I'm not sure she really liked it.
She was happy once it was done though
Xander went for a Braveheart look
Hopefully he doesn't get disemboweled
Here we are waiting for the noon ceremonies to start
I'm not sure what this is called, but it was pretty impressive watching all these bagpipe players
The color gaurd. Xander was so excited to see a Canadian flag. He went to school on Monday and apperantly he told everyone that he went to the Scottish festival and saw a Canadian flag. I'm thinking we need to take a trip to visit the Heningers soon, his brain would really explode then.
Thanks for a fun day Jeanie!
