We had a really full busy weekend. The Ross reunion took place on Saturday, which was a lot of fun, but lead to a pretty long day. I'm not posting about that today because frankly I haven't had time to go through all the pictures and I'm pretty sure it will end up being a multiple post event so stay tuned.
I do have a fairly amusing / irritating at the time story from this weekend.
Saturday after the reunion we were driving back from Orem, Xander pipes up in the back seat that he has a stomach ache. I figured it had been a very long day, with tons of junk food and playing with cousins, it wasn't surprising that his stomach hurt a little. We arrived home at around 8:30 and everyone went to bed.
The next morning Xander was back up at 6:00 still complaining that his stomach hurt and that he was nauseous now. I told him to go lay on the couch and watch t.v. down stairs because seriously it was 6:00 on a Sunday and I wanted to sleep some more. A while later I went down to tell Xander it was his turn for a shower and he was still grumbling about his stomach. I happened to touch his forehead and realized he was pretty warm. I took his temperature and he had a fever of 102. Of course with all of his symptoms my mind immediately went to appendicitis. I even pressed on his right side and he said it hurt more when I did that.
I started freaking a little at this point. I called my mom to ask her opinion because she had her appendix out when she was a child. We decided that it was better to be safe than sorry so we all loaded up in the car to go to instacare. Luckily we have one a few miles from our house. We were waiting at the light to turn onto the road that the instacare is located on when Xander lets go with a giant fart. Needless to say the car was silent for a few seconds, and then I said "Xander was that you?" He started laughing and said "Yes mom and guess what? I feel much better!" BAH!! We turned around and went home with Paizley and Xander cackling the whole way.
Kids drive me insane because you are never quite sure if they require medical attention. I don't want to be that mom that is driving to the doctor every other day, but I also don't want to under react. It turned out that his fever was from a cold he had caught from me that I've been battling for a good three weeks now. He was still down the whole day not feeling well but luckily it wasn't anything that required surgery.
