I swear we have a billion birthdays in June. The most recent is my niece Ammie who turns three tomorrow.
Ammie is eight months younger than Paizley and they are such good friends. She has nicknamed Paizley "wiley" for some reason that none of us can figure out, but Paiz doesn't seem to mind. Those two little girls are very much trouble makers when they get together. They have almost grown out of that hairy love/hate phase and generally they love each other.
Ammie is a sweet little girl that is fun and her smile is so cute when you get to see it. Happy birthday Ammie!!

Happy Slappsgiving
I've been horrible about posting this week, so I'm going to power through with a bunch of posts today. Also I don't know if anyone has noticed by my spell check hasn't been working and I am a horrible speller so cut me some slack.
I wanted to post a couple of pictures of the amazing prize pack I won at the Ross reunion. It's a reference to the t.v. show How I met your mother. If you are a fan you will know exactly what I'm talking about, If not here's the cliff note version. Marshall and Barney make a bet with each other, the prize is the winner gets to slap the other in the face as hard as he can. Lilly is the slap bet commissioner and gets to decide on all rules. After several mishaps and misfired slappings, Lilly rules that Marshall gets to slap Barney five times to be doled out from here to eternity. Marshall starts messing with Barney and sends him a countdown clock for when the next slap will come. It happens to fall on Thanksgiving, hence Slapsgiving and hilarity ensues. Seriously if you haven't watched this show you really should.

Lyndsey designed this and Jeanie my mother-in-law sewed it. It's currently hanging above our pantry.
There is also this fancy apron for the slap bet commissioner of the group.
Happy Birthday Deeder!
I'm fairly confident I'm the worst person on the planet. My Dad's birthday was on Tuesday and I forgot. I even talked to him that evening and it didn't click with me. Horrible!!! I had been planning to write a bit about my Dad so I guess late is better than never.
I love my Dad! He is one of my favorite people on the planet. He was always there for us growing up. We could tell him anything, and not have to worry about him freaking out. He was always willing to help us find solutions to our problems. He would stay up until we arrived home or we would make sure to wake him up and let him know.
I like to think that we have the same sens of humor. I remember countless times watching movies with him. We would be dying and my Mom and Heidi would be looking at us like whatever. One of our favorite things to do is quote movies to each other. His favorite is the original Aurthur with Dudley Moore, if you haven't seen it you should really check it out.
He taught me how to tease. Heidi and I were very much into My Little Ponies, we owned about a hundred. We would get them all set up in the living room and my Dad would yell "pony tornado" from the other room and run through kicking anything that he could reach. Of course we would scream and he would laugh. I now enjoy doing the same thing to my son with his army men.
My Dad loves my kids. He loves to have them come stay with him and he misses them when they aren't there. He spent ten minutes on the phone with Paizley the other day while she regaled him with stories about her day. He will play video games with Xander and puts up with Paizley's hug and kiss stinginess.
My Dad has a close relationship with the Lord. He's been a bishop and on the high council. We joke with him that the next step is stake president which he doesn't see the humor in. He doesn't realize that the joke is on him and if it did happen I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. He's very humble and a good speaker. When he was put in as bishop in the Inkom ward many of the members came up to us and expressed what a great man he is. I agree and admire everything about my Dad.

Wireless Internet For A New Age
It's official, the Ross household is moving from the dark ages into our new modern world. Yesterday I signed up for Internet with Century Link. Shocking I know! I will be disconnecting our satellite in the next couple of days and we will be streaming everything. My sister in law has been bugging me to do this for quite awhile because it's actually going to save us a ton of money. I've been a little scared because I really love our DVR. I'm really nervous and excited at the same time.

Sister Spa Day
We had planned to have a sister sleep over at Heidi's house Friday night. It was nice not to have to go home and deal with the whole fire situation. Steven said it was probably a good thing I was gone because the smoke was pretty bad in our house what with not having a/c and all the windows being open.
The night of course began with pizza, which I think I ate most of, and then Hailey had planned a rather extensive do it yourself spa night.

Siblings At City Creek
On a less stressful note.
Yesterday by some freak accident my Mom and all three of my sibling were in downtown Salt Lake. My mom drove down Wednesday night because she wanted Heidi to dye her hair. Hailey tagged along with her since we had plans to get together this weekend to put together Emily's baby shower for next month. Ryan's car has been having transmission problems so he had an appointment at the Hyundai store to hopefully get it fixed. And of course Heidi and I already work downtown This never happens without tons of planning and scheduling so we took advantage and went to lunch.
My mom, Hailey and Ryan decided to do a session in the Salt Lake Temple and then Heidi and I met up with them afterwards. I walked up to Franklin and met Heidi and we continued up to the new city creek center to meet everyone else at the food court.

Today the part of Tiny Tim will be played by Hailey Larson, who somehow managed to hairline fracture her foot by simply walking around campus in her flip flops. Lish's are special like that.
Lunch at Chick-fillet
After lunch we went across the plaza to the Cheesecake Factory for desert.
White chocolate macadamia cheesecake, brownie sundae cheesecake, hot fudge sundae. Apparently Ryan is a communist and doesn't like cheesecake so we had to get him the ice cream.
Narm!
Double narm!!
mmmm hot fudge
It was a lot of fun getting together with my siblings and meemer. Not that I don't love my brothers and sister in law, but there is something nice about getting back to the original four.
Fire!!
Some idiot was target practicing yesterday in the hills behind out house and started a wildfire. When I was going home last night I did think that the smoke was pretty close but I'm sure it will be fine.
Steven is home today with the kids because he's been running a fever for a couple of days and Paizley barfed at daycare yesterday. He called me shortly after I arrived at work that the fire department was starting to evacuate the housing development across the street from us. I guess we have a pretty good view of the goings on because Laron and Laura came over to see what was going on and they were all hanging out in our backyard.
I guess the smoke is pretty thick but there isn't much ash flying around. Laura said that they sky is really red. I'm trying really hard not to freak out. Everyone keep their fingers crossed that our house doesn't burn down today.

Ross Reunion
This weekend everyone gathered at the church by where Christy and Kim live for the Ross family reunion. Grandma and Grandpa Ross came very prepared with a plethora of fun games to play. We participated in "The Price is Slight" and various "Minutes to Win it" games. I have a million pictures, but rather than do a bunch of small posts I'm going to try to power through with one big, epic,
mondo, super sized post. Hang on to your false teeth and eyelashes because here we go. Sorry in advance for being too lazy to turn the vertical pictures the right way.
This is just before the start. the little kids were very excited in their chairs up front
Cheering for your favorite team! From the left Xander, Tommy, Sadie, Laura, Ellie and Lucie
Ellie was the official timer with her fancy Ipod touch
Luke playing the first Minute to Win it game. He had to balance five dice on the end of a tongue depressor.
He won a Walmart gift card
This picture is a little blurry because Ellie is moving at lighting speed. She had 4 pedometers strapped to her limbs, she had to rack up a certain number of "steps" to win. I think she ended up with at least double what she was suppose to, thanks to all that soccer.
Christy, Sadie and Laron waiting for the next game
Lyndsey armed with her camera to catch the action
Jacob, Christy and Jarod
Steven being his usual dorky self
All the kids under twelve took part in this game. They picked a plate and put as many golf balls as they wanted on it. Then they had to walk halfway down the gym and back without losing any. Grandma Ross provided quite they array of fancy choices
Xander and Tommy
Sadie
Paizley, Ammie and Jarod
Luke as the official rule reader. Grandma and Grandpa Ross planned a "Price is Slight" game for each of us with prizes especially for the contestant. But unlike it's counterpart on t.v. even the losers got to keep their prizes.
I believe Steven had to number his prizes from most expensive to least. Of course he lost.
I'm not sure if you can really tell, but on the back row all of those bottles are specialty root beers. Those are all in our possession now and Steven is looking for volunteers for a root beer tasting. He also won all those glasses on the bottom row. Paizley is pretty much obsessed with them. Steven had to let her pick one and she has been drinking Kool-aid out of it.
If there are only two things my son loves, its hats and dinosaurs. So a dinosaur head hat is just what he needed.
So this is my game but I guess Steven decided that you didn't really need to see anything. I won a cell phone by the way. Everyone should call me sometime.
Everyone watching the action
Next we played bingo with sheets fill out with everyone in the family's name
Christy and Jarod
Paizley trying really hard not to eat her marshmallow markers
The kids drew a card that had an action on it and had to act it out and everyone else followed their lead. I think Lucie had to jump on one foot.
Jarod
Christy's game. She won a binding machine I believe
This is Jacob's game but apparently I didn't actually take any pictures of him.
Laura's game. She had to pick which food had a price listed from now or 2004. I think she lost but won a laminator anyway.
This game there were four packs of cardboard robots that had to be put together. They drew four names out of a hat to compete. It was Jacob, Laron, Luke and Me! I really wanted to beat the stinky boys.
Hard at work
Laron tried to cheat at first by putting his together wrong. But cheaters never prosper and his fell apart. He was never able to quite get it back together.
Jacob almost there
Luke
Laron
Jacob ultimately won. I was almost done but my hands were shaking so bad I reached across the table for my last piece and like the bull that I am, knocked my robot over destroying it.
All the kids under sixteen took part in the punch it game. Each hole has money in it anywhere from ten cents to ten dollars. I heard a rumor that Grandpa Ross stayed up until a ridiculous hour of the morning finishing this awesome game board.
Sadie
Ellie
Xander. I unfortunately don't have written down what everyone else won, but Xander totally won five dollars. He was very excited to spend it ( he's like me and cash burns a hole in his pocket).
Tommy
Lucie
Jarod
Ammie
The adults got to play Plinko!! That was my favorite game when we would watch the Price is Right growing up. Grandpa Ross came through again with this awesome board!
Christy
Me. I totally won $17. Yay for gas that week.
Lyndsey
Cash is a girl's best friend!
Laura
It was a very fun day. The games continued at Christy and Kim's house down the street for the rest of the day. Unfortunately I guess I lost my taking pictures steam because I didn't take any more than this. I will post about the Slapsgiving prize pack I won later, it's pretty much the most amazing thing I've ever seen.
