What a Toy!

Xander is now 7 years old. One thing I enjoy is that he likes some of the thing I liked as a kid (and still like today). He was in the car the last couple of days talking about Lego sets. We were discussing the new Lord of the Rings sets and just like me was looking a set that he would like based on some of the elements in the set. He is very interested in the Lego fish.

I brought up the subject of Lego topic with my friend Rick at work. He feels that the recent Lego sets that have movie themes have too many pieces that are too specialized. There might be little something to that. As a kid I would build the set and never again put that set together whit instructions again. They were all Steven originals with influences taken from everywhere. But while I have, as an adult, rebuilt things according to instructions mostly upon a Ross kid request I think that Xander will do what I did. He already switches the minifigures around hats, heads, and even the hands (that was one thing I NEVER did it makes me cringe to think about). I think the more he plays the more creative he will be and all the Lego elements, standard bricks and all the specialized elements too, will combine for hours of fun for him.
